The Project

Our Client

Personalization tailors content and features to specific characteristics of users, so that different visitors see different things on the “same” page or product. It is often applied in video games, as the name implies, is about personalizing the experience of a game. It’s a way for gamer to either bring themselves into the world, or create their own stamp within it. However, personalization is relatively new in the gaming e-commerce .In order to to catch up in respect of targeting and personalization, using data science to understand target markets and players’ behavior can greatly help in creating a stronger backbone for smarter, more effective customer acquisition and retention strategies.

 

Our client, GameGoat specializes in selling games, consoles and game peripherals in their web shops, operating over 11 countries and serving over 1 million customers in 10 different language.

My Contributions

I was responsible for this project from the midway to finish. This included doing gamer research, defining gamer personas, creating flowcharts and wireframes as well as designing a finished personalization user interface.

Different Types of Gamers

In speaking of personalization, we had user research on gamers. To the outside world, gamers must seem like a uniform bunch: people who play games fit conveniently under one umbrella as gamers. However, this couldn’t be farther from the truth!

 

Since there are many different type of game genres to suit and satisfy different gaming behaviors of human. Each genre represents one specific type of gamers. Therefore it implied us that there are many different types of gamers.

 

We had used affinity diagram as UX tool to categorize 32 types of gamer-class and summarize their different needs.

The Concept

In order to identify which gamer-type of our users, we offer free Personality Quiz as features. The Personality Quiz is in fact user psychological test. The results of the quiz is to identify gaming-psychology from user and categorize them into their own specific gamer-type. So it could helps our client to receive data quick on their target markets, specially on their new users.

 

Besides, for each gamer-type, we have created avatar-character with both genders and background lore. The reason is used as trigger for hooking users to participate the personality quiz. Furthermore, avatar-character could build loyalty from user toward our client.

The Topic

 

Why do we have to consider about new food sources? In order to solving the curent food problem, our food is grown worldwide in huge fields and in millions of greenhouses, which takes up a lot of space and is limited in area.

 

My Contribution

 

we are a team with three students from different areas ( communication design, product design and interface design). Everyone were participated in everything from research for selecting one particular problem as topic,  ideating crazy concepts as solution for the future. Furthermore, i myself was also in additional created few scenarios scenes to criticize our own concept.
